Descrizione
Il velivolo era derivato da un Boeing 737-200 modificato e veniva utilizzato dall'Aeronautica degli Stati Uniti per addestrare i navigatori, ora noti come ufficiali dei sistemi di combattimento. Informalmente era denominato Gator[2] (un'abbreviazione di "navigator") e "Flying Classroom".
Diciannove di questi velivoli furono consegnati al comando di addestramento aereo della Mather AFB in California nel 1973 e 1974. Due velivoli aggiuntivi furono consegnati alla Guardia Nazionale del Colorado presso Buckley ANGB (in seguito Buckley AFB) e Peterson AFB a sostegno diretto dell'addestramento alla navigazione aerea dei cadetti presso la vicina US Air Force Academy.
Due T-43 sono stati successivamente convertiti in CT-43A nei primi anni novanta e trasferiti rispettivamente al comando di mobilità aerea e alle forze aeree degli Stati Uniti in Europa, come mezzo da trasporto. Un terzo velivolo è stato anche trasferito all'Air Force Materiel Command per l'uso come velivolo da banco di prova radar ed è stato ridenominato NT-43A. Il T-43 è stato ritirato dal comando di istruzione e formazione aerea nel 2010 dopo 37 anni di servizio.[3]

The Boeing T-43 is a modified Boeing 737-200 that was used by the United States Air Force for training navigators, now known as USAF combat systems officers. Informally referred to as the Gator (an abbreviation of "navigator") and "Flying Classroom", nineteen of these aircraft were delivered to the Air Training Command at Mather Air Force Base, California during 1973 and 1974. Two additional aircraft were delivered to the Colorado Air National Guard at Buckley Air National Guard Base (later Buckley Space Force Base) and Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado, in direct support of cadet air navigation training at the nearby U.S. Air Force Academy. Two T-43s were later converted to CT-43As in the early 1990s and transferred to Air Mobility Command and United States Air Forces in Europe, respectively, as executive transports. A third aircraft was also transferred to Air Force Materiel Command for use as the "Rat 55" radar test bed aircraft and was redesignated as an NT-43A. The T-43 was retired by the Air Education and Training Command in 2010 after 37 years of service.[3][fr] Boeing T-43
