The Abrams Air Craft Corporation was an aircraft manufacturer established in Lansing, Michigan,[1] USA, in 1937 as an offshoot of Talbert Abrams' Aerial Survey Corporation.[2] Abrams had founded an airline (ABC Airline) in 1929 but found himself increasingly interested in aerial photography. The new company was created for the purpose of designing and producing a dedicated survey aircraft.[3] The result was the P-1 Explorer,[4] designed by Abrams with assistance from Kenneth Ronan of Ronan & Kunzl.

World War II interrupted further work.

Talbert « Ted » Abrams (1917-1990) est un pionnier américain de la photographie et de la cartographie aérienne, né le 17 août 1895 à Tekonsha (en), Michigan. Inspiré par les exploits des frères Wright, il trouve à l’âge de 18 ans un emploi sur l’aérodrome de Détroit, avant de devenir mécanicien chez Benoist Airplane Company. Il gagne ensuite Buffalo, dans l’État de New York, et travaille à la Curtiss Aeroplane Company. Il apprend également à piloter, obtient en 1916 la licence numéro 282 attribuée par la Fédération aéronautique internationale (FAI).
