Die Al Udeid Air Base (arabisch قاعدة العديد الجوية) ist ein Militärflugplatz und Stützpunkt der Luftstreitkräfte Katars. Die Basis befindet sich nahe Al Rayyan (32,18 km westlich von Doha) in Katar. Sie wird vor allem von der United States Air Force, der Royal Air Force (Vereinigtes Königreich) und der Royal Australian Air Force genutzt.

Beschreibung
Während des Afghanistankrieges wurde unter anderem dieser Stützpunkt für Militäroperationen genutzt. Die USAF hat hier General Dynamics F-16 (Mehrzweckkampfjets), Boeing E-8 JSTARS (Aufklärungsflugzeuge), McDonnell Douglas KC-10 Extender (Tank- und Transportflugzeuge), Lockheed C-130 und Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker (Tankflugzeuge) stationiert. Die Royal Australian Air Force hat hier seit 2003 zwei Lockheed P-3 (Seeaufklärer) sowie drei C-130 Hercules (Transportflugzeuge) stationiert. Die australischen Hornets wurden für über 350 Einsätze im Irak verwendet.[1] Insgesamt können 120 Luftfahrzeuge untergebracht werden.
Die Baukosten beliefen sich auf eine Milliarde US-Dollar.[1]

Al Udeid Air Base (Arabic: قاعدة العديد الجوية) is one of two military bases southwest of Doha, Qatar, also known as Abu Nakhlah Airport (مطار أبو نخلة). It houses Qatar Air Force, United States Air Force, Royal Air Force, and other foreign forces. It is host to a forward headquarters of United States Central Command, headquarters of the United States Air Forces Central Command, No. 83 Expeditionary Air Group RAF, and the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing of the USAF. In 1999, the then Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad,[4] told U.S. officials that he would like to see as many as 10,000 U.S. servicemen permanently stationed at Al Udeid.[citation needed] According to media reports in June 2017, the base hosted over 11,000 U.S. and U.S.-led anti-ISIL coalition forces and over 100 operational aircraft.[5][fr] Base militaire d'Al-Udeid
