Der Flughafen Neom (arabisch مطار خليج نيوم oder مطار نيوم, englisch Neom Bay Airport, IATA-Flughafencode: NUM, ICAO-Code: OENN) liegt bei der Planstadt Neom in der Provinz Tabuk im Nordwesten Saudi-Arabiens.

Beschreibung

Der Flughafen liegt nahe der Küste auf einer Höhe von 10 m.[1] Er verfügt über eine 3757 m lange Start- und Landebahn.

Während die Stadt Neom im Jahr 2021 noch in Bau ist, wurde der Flughafen bereits zwischen 2015 und 2019 gebaut.[2] An dem Ort befand sich vorher eine militärisch genutzte unbefestigte Landebahn.[3]

Im Juni 2019 wurde der Flughafen eröffnet.[4] Es wurden Linienflugverbindungen nach Riad und al-Wadschh aufgenommen.[5]

Neom Bay Airport (IATA: NUM, ICAO: OENN) is a commercial airport located in Neom, Saudi Arabia.[1] It is 48 km east from the nearest airport, Sharm El Sheikh International Airport.[2] It is one of the four-airport network that is projected in the city, one of which is to be international.[3] In January 2019, the airport received 130 Saudia passengers, who were employees in Neom; this was their first visit to the project.[4] The airport is located at Neom Bay, the first area to be constructed in the framework of the project.[5] The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has classified the airport as a commercial hub.[6] The length of the airport's runway is 2,630 metres (8,630 ft).[6] The airport has a logistic location as it links three countries: Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Egypt. Neom Airport is the first airport in the region to use the 5G wireless network service.[7]

L’aéroport est situé dans une zone stratégique car il relie quatre pays, l’Arabie saoudite, la Jordanie, Israël et l’Égypte.
