La Florida Airport (IATA: LSC, ICAO: SCSE) is an airport serving La Serena, a Pacific coastal city in the Coquimbo Region of Chile. This is one of a few major Chilean airports with an east–west runway (others are Balmaceda and Calama).

The La Serena VOR-DME (Ident: SER) is located on the field. The La Serena non-directional beacon is located 0.49 nautical miles (0.91 km) off the approach threshold of Runway 12.[3][4]

History


On January 19, 1951, Captain Roberto Parragué Singer on his plane "Manu-Tara" took off from La Florida Airport and landed on Hanga Roa, Easter Island the next day, achieving the first flight ever to Easter Island.[6]

Der Flughafen La Florida (spanisch: Aeródromo La Florida) ist ein chilenischer Flughafen etwa 6 Kilometer östlich der Großstadt La Serena in der Región de Coquimbo. Der Flughafen wurde schon 1949 eingeweiht, seither ist er der wichtigste Flughafen der Region. In den kommenden Jahren soll er weiter ausgebaut und renoviert werden.[1]
