In December 2017, Saudi Arabia began stationing troops at Al-Ghaydah International Airport, as part of the Saudi Arabian-led intervention in Yemen.[1] Following months of protests, Saudi forces returned control of the airport to Yemeni officials in July 2018.[1][2]
Yemen's civil aviation authorities are back in control of a local airport. Until recently, the Al Ghaydah Airport, near Yemen's border with Oman, was supervised by the Saudi-led forces.
