Fondata il 25 agosto 2003 come Air Deccan, è stata la prima compagnia aerea a basso costo del paese asiatico. Aveva la sua sede centrale a Bangalore e collegava 64 città dell'India con 350 tratte.

Dopo l'acquisto da parte di Kingfisher Airlines nel 2007, la compagnia cambiò nome in Simplifly Deccan e venne assorbita completamente nella prima il 29 agosto 2008.

Kingfisher Red (ursprünglich Air Deccan danach Simplifly Deccan) war eine indische Billigfluggesellschaft mit Sitz in Mumbai und ein Tochterunternehmen der Kingfisher Airlines. Sie wurde 2012 in diese integriert.

Simplifly Deccan, formerly known as Air Deccan, was the first Indian low-cost carrier. Headquartered in Bengaluru, it operated domestic flights from seven base airports using a fleet of Airbus A320, ATR 42 and ATR 72 aircraft. The airline appealed to middle class travellers with low fares and a large route network. It employed several innovative methods to ensure the profitability of its business model. Nevertheless, Simplifly Deccan merged with Kingfisher Airlines in April 2008. Kingfisher replaced the Deccan brand with Kingfisher Red in August 2008.
