It is home to the 6º Stormo of the Italian Air Force with the 102º Gruppo (Papero), il 154º Gruppo (Diavoli Rossi) e il 155º Gruppo (Le linci) equipped with the Tornado IDS.
It houses more than 40 nuclear weapons type B61.[3]
The commander since 2017 is the Italian Air Force Colonel Luca Maineri.[4]

Der Militärflugplatz Ghedi befindet sich in der norditalienischen Region Lombardei, rund 15 Kilometer südöstlich von Brescia und zwei Kilometer nördlich von Ghedi. Die manchmal verwendete Bezeichnung „Brescia-Ghedi“ dient der Abgrenzung zum drei Kilometer weiter östlich gelegenen, inzwischen zivilen Flughafen Brescia-Montichiari.

L'aeroporto di Ghedi[1] è un aeroporto militare italiano situato in Lombardia a 25 km a sud della città di Brescia, nel comune di Ghedi dal quale l'aeroporto dista 5 km. L'aeroporto è gestito dall'Aeronautica Militare ed in base al Decreto ministeriale del 25 gennaio 2008 pubblicato sulla Gazzetta Ufficiale del 7 marzo 2008, è classificato come MOB (Main Operating Base) del primo gruppo e come tale effettua esclusivamente attività militari, non essendo aperto al traffico commerciale. Attualmente è sede del 6º Stormo dell'Aeronautica Militare con il 102º Gruppo "Giuseppe Cenni" (Paperi), il 154º Gruppo (Diavoli Rossi) e il 155º Gruppo (Le pantere) equipaggiati con Tornado IDS e ECR. Il campo fu intitolato alla memoria del pilota Luigi Olivari (1891-1917) il 29 giugno 1921.
